June 11, 2026

On June 5-7, the management team of Microbank MBC attended the 35th Annual Meeting and Business Forum of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), held in Riga, Latvia.
During the forum, the microbank's team held numerous meetings with representatives from international financial institutions, investment firms, and other potential partners to discuss MBC’s operations, development strategy, and future plans.
This year's forum centered around the theme of "Economic Innovation in a Changing World." Special focus was placed on economic adaptation to shifting environments, the role of innovation and the green transition, and the promotion of sustainable development through private-sector collaboration.
According to MBC representatives, participating in the EBRD Business Forum was a significant step toward expanding the company’s international partnerships and developing future financing opportunities.
"The participation of MBC’s management in a global meeting of this scale underscores the microbank's commitment to keeping pace with international financial standards, deepening partnerships with global institutions, and fostering a sustainable business environment in the country," stated Gia Petriashvili, CEO of MBC.
The EBRD is an international financial institution dedicated to developing the private sector, attracting investment, and promoting sustainable economic growth.
Gia Petriashvili noted that MBC is among a select few Georgian organizations that have enjoyed access to international capital for many years. Overall, MBC’s international activity has seen significant year-over-year growth. In 2025, the company raised a total of 54 million GEL from international partners, doubling the amount from the same period the previous year.
"Over the course of 2025, as part of the 'Enterprise Georgia' Capital Market Support Program, MBC issued a total of 60 million GEL in two-year bonds on the Georgian Stock Exchange. This was the fourth issuance for our company. We are particularly proud that the Pension Agency of Georgia became an investor in this issuance, marking the very first precedent of the Pension Agency partnering with a microbank," Petriashvili added.
